So let me update you: I've been spending a lot more time hanging out with the in-laws, especially the bil's. I have come to get to know them well and I think they now feel comfortable around me. Which is a good thing. Aside from that - things are going downhill like an avalanche at work. The NEW "plan" is dissolving 2 positions by the end of summer. Basically moving to a full call center! - where the tech answers the phone and fixes the issue right then and there. That SO sucks. Were not just talking - my Word won't do such and such... we are talking ANY issue. WTH! I am trying to move ahead, not go back to basic "geeksquad" support! In the meantime, I have been "window shopping" jobs and have had very little luck with the economy so tight right now, very few people are job hunting and the # of positions are few and far between. Between Gas prices and Summer Daycare... well, let's not talk about it.

I think I've decided to move to Wordpress. If you've got it - how do you like it? Any suggestions? It seems to be more flexible then Blogger.
For now - I'm here...

Well, at least the illusion of going natural. Boy, can't you just wait for this one to hit the general population???! I'm sure there will be many misinterpretations of the "illusion" part.
And here I am trying to keep my girls under wraps...

In about 2 wks, The Man and I plan to go to a birthday party for his boss. It's going to be at a Cigar Bar/Lounge... a "real" grown up place. Of course, I have nothing to wear. What does one wear to this type of place? I decided to online window shop and fell in love.
This dress is killer:
The description reads: She’s a brickkkkkkkkkkkk-HOUSE!!! The “Nelli” signature dress showcases what having your curves is all about, pure sex appeal.
I'm all over that! But why?...Why?... WHY???!!! Does it cost $268! We're talking Rayon Lycra Jersey here people! Seems like everything I like costs my left kidney and my next born.
I got this meme from KimmyK ... So here goes--the rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people, posts their names, and then leaves a comment on their blogs, letting them know they've been tagged.

1. I love Action and SciFi flicks! Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Kill Bill, AVP, Rush Hour, Blade, Underworld, Die Hard, Spiderman...
2. I'm a goth at heart.
3. I'm an insomniac – but it works, most of the time... that's how I stay up and study until the dead hours of the night.
4. I have to have a full set of pots, pans, dishes, silverware and glasses – It bothers me to have mix and matched sets. I have to resist the urge to throw/give them away and buy new ones when one gets chipped or broken just so I can have an entire set. And I absolutely hate plastic cups – regardless if they match. I have only 2 plastic cups – one Barbie, one Spidey… both for the kids.
5. I work in a male dominated industry. I am the only chick in my department that is a Tech. I have to hold my own to be respected in my profession. As such, I act like a guy – I tend to be blunt, short and to the point. I'm not sure why people don't get it ???
6. I worry. A Lot. About everything. Probably another reason I can't sleep…and I'm a paranoid mom.
7. I like to watch people. Not in the weirdo stalker way; but I wonder what they're going to do, how they're going to react and why.
8. I can fix computers, write resumes, sew from a pattern, cut a fade and assemble furniture from the directions!
9. I'm good at Accounting, Statistics and Geometry. I suck at Algebra and basic math. I can't add double digits in my head to save my life. But give me any topic and I can crank out a 5+ page paper, citations and bibliography included!
10. I should've been a lawyer. If I win the lotto – I'm going to law school!

Don't ask about work... they are working us to death. My hands have been hurting from all the typing and now they no longer want us to justify our help desk workload by saying call volume, now they want call quality - geez, make up your minds!
Anyhow - in the midst of turmoil aka "restructuring" according to management, some smart person has decided to throw 2 interns into the mix to work 1/2 days helping out. Supposedly they had been trained in a summer program on computers, etc. Sure, they have basic knowledge. Unfortunely, they can't help very much.
We were not prepared to have 2 people who needed training start, especially during a very busy period. So the first month or so they just kinda hung out. Then I noticed they were not very busy. I decided to come to my manager and suggest they have a set of tasks to do... next thing I know, I'm an instant manager! Now I am the point person for them - they report to me and I manage their tasks.
That's the last time I suggest anything... ha-ha!

I am excitedly waiting for my brother's wife to have their baby. She's been having contractions steadily for a day or so, but still no baby. Unfortunately, I can't be in California with him (he's in the military) - I'm sad about that. And I think its going to be over a year before we are able to see the little guy in person. But I will have lots of pictures. He will be the first niece/nephew on my side. Hopefully we'll get a call soon.

Don't make me have to reach through this phone and choke the shit out of you!
1 comments Posted by NtPQ at 11:11 PMMy daughter came home with her 1st progress report of 4th grade. Crying. She is an honor roll student, always has been. She makes straight A's, is one of the class "managers" and always sets an example. She's a high achiever and has aspirations to become a doctor - OB to be exact, she wants to deliver babies.
The report card was A after A until Math - 76 ... wtf? I asked her about it and she said she didn't know, she was just as surprised as us. I asked if she did all her work or if she forgot to do an assignment. I even asked if the teacher spoke to her about anything or she had gotten in trouble. Nothing.
The school has an internet system where parents can review grades, assignments and even missed school days. I checked and found that she had a zero in a 3's multiplication assignment. I questioned her and she said she remembered doing it. Ok - now wth???
I called the school & left a message for the teacher. Twice. She finally called back and we discussed the issue, according to the teacher, when a child doesn't put their name on their paper or doesn't turn it in they get a zero. Look biatch - this isn't med school...we are talking 4th grade here. The teacher claims she discussed it with Girlie. Highly unlikely. She also said she doesn't offer make up work nor extra credit. I'm a hair away from reaching through this phone... But not to worry she'll bring up her average with time. Oh really?
At some point shouldn't the teacher mention to the child "hey where's your work?" or "put your name on it, or else" I think a big fat zero is harsh and unfair. Especially since neither Girlie nor Ms. Teacher can produce said work. Not to mention, she didn't even consider the type of student Girlie is. When I questioned the teacher to find out if she spoke with Girlie about it - she paused before answering vaguely how she would normally have done that. I don't believe you. Also, work is trashed once graded.
Just to give you an idea of the type of child Girlie is - even after she came home crying, we were upset & I said I'd speak with the teacher, she still went to the teacher to get an explaination herself. I don't know that many 9 year olds that are confident nor take their education seriously enough to do that.
Obviously I was dissatisfied with the Ms Teacher's response. I contacted the school to speak with the Assistant Principal. I explained the situation and explained how we felt it was harsh to give a zero. Ms Asst Principal agreed we had valid concerns - Ultimately she said they "suggest" to teachers that if a child is in class and does the work whether the paper is turned in or not or without name or not, the lowest grade they *should* get is a 50 (F). She said she'd reiterate their "suggestion" to the teacher for her to "consider".
Two hours later I checked the online gradebook - changed from 0 to a 50. Avg went from 76 to 90.
That's what I thought...

My little boy is a kindergartener! I can't even believe it. He grew up so fast. I'm a little sad. I've noticed he doesn't want me babying him with hugs and kiss as much. But I guess it's a part of growing up - Despite the many pouty faces and "awww mom"s that I hear. On a side note - what is with school supply lists nowadays? Why the hell does the teacher need a pack (per child) of 100 brown paper lunch sacks or 3 different size Ziploc bags including to superhuge ones or 3 cans of clorox wipes per child. I swear they are stockpiling for Armageddon! Not to mention during registration they sell school tshirts (which every kid wants and the line is a mile long around the corner) - they do that on purpose, knowing the kids have to have one. Our school is outrageous - since when do they charge to join the PTO? Not only that - why are school functions held at freaking 3pm in the afternoon??? Like people don't have to work! I had to take a whole day off for "meet the teacher" because my son's was at 11am, meanwhile, my daughters was at 3pm. I remember back in the day PTO meetings and school functions were at 7pm. Time enough to drive in traffic, pick up the kids, feed'm and go to the school function with time to spare. I feel REALLY old.
